2 Wimbledon Titles For Rafael In 3 Years
Rafael Nadal at the age of 24 has now won his 8th Grand Slam titles. After he suffered the knee injury last year a lot of people were doubting his ability in winning any grand slam but now he has proved them wrong by winning two grand slams in a row in 4 weeks. The guy is truly magnificent. Hundreds of promotional merchandise were distributed after his triumph at Roland Garros and SW14 and if you recently been to Spain you will see these merchandises in every shops and home in Spain. It does look like it will be Spain’s year but then again Germans are always there to cause an upset.
The start of the Wimbledon this year was fantastic. In the first week of Wimbledon there were some great matches played. There were unseeded players giving the top seeds a lot of problems. Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal both had tough 5 set matches in the first week. We had that marathon match between Nicolas Mahut and John Isner. They played the longest match in the history of Wimbledon which included the longest set in the history of tennis. John Isner, the American overcame the challenge of Nicolas Mahut in the fifth set by 70-68.
The weather also played it parts. There was no rain in Wimbledon this year, which has never happened since 1995. No rain in Wimbledon? Incredible isn’t it? The tournament ended in two weeks and there was a new champion crowned, Nadal beat Berdych in the final in straight sets and took over the crown of champion from Federer who won it last year.
That is why all the Spanish fans these days are wearing promotional clothing of Nadal and their national football team, and wishing Nadal all the best for US Open. Even I have bought some promotional pens, which says Rafael Nadal 2010 Wimbledon Champion. I will giving these away to people I know who love tennis and Nadal.
Some people have already started saying this was the best Wimbledon ever, but what do you think?
